Quoits is a garden party favourite for all of the family. This traditional lawn game may seem easy but it takes skill and judgement to beat your opponents. This luxury set is handmade by Jaques of London. It is 50cm across, has a beautiful wood finish and comes with natural rope quoits.
How to play Each player throws the four rope quoits to land over the spikes on the board, each spike is worth a different number of points. The first player to score 230 (or 90 for a shorter game) wins! It sounds easy enough but how will you score?!?!
History of the game The outdoor game of Quoits can be traced back to 1388 in England although there is evidence, however, that similar versions of the game of were played in ancient Greece and Rome. King Edward III banned Quoits in England and Wales during the 1360's as he believed the outdoor pursuit to be foolish but the game was revived in northern England and Wales during the early 19th Century.
